Splitcoast’s Dare to Get Dirty 08′

Published by Jerri Kay under Challenges, Flourishes

During the Dare To Get Dirty week over at Splitcoast a few weeks ago (I know, I’m sorry, I’m terribly behind, but I’m trying to get caught up  . . . LOL), my dear friend and Dirty Dozen partner, Christine, hosted a watercolor challenge and asked me to design a sample card.  It was my pleasure to participate in Christine’s challenge.   I was very honored to also be asked by my very good friend Kittie to design a card for her scene challenge.  The images used on the card I did for Kittie’s challenge are Kittie’s Cause a Scene stamps by Rubbernecker.  Check them out, they’re a must have, even if you don’t watercolor or want to do scenes, each kit comes with plenty of stamps perfect for cardmaking.  The cobblestones stamp is from Art Impressions.

Recently I’ve been struggling with feelings I have concerning a friend who has been wronged.  I think we’ve all been there, someone who is dear to us is hurting and we feel anger towards the perpetrator.  I’d like to share with you a devotional from a wonderful book I have entitled Promises From God For Women.

We so easily fail when it comes to one of Jesus’ most important commandments: to love our neighbor.  Loving the people who love you isn’t always all that easy, but to wish those people who annoy you well seems like too much to ask.  No one likes to come off second best, and usually we are quite indignant when we do.  Because we are only human, we find it virtually impossible to bless those who have persecuted us.  And yet the Lord asks it of us.  Jesus was willing to pray for and bless the people who persecuted Him time and again.  Even on the cross He asked God to forgive His persecutors.  This is impossible if you are not a child of God.  It is only He who can enable you to conquer your innate selfish nature and to love and bless those people for whom you feel no love.”

I’ll be working on the butterfly tutorial when I return from taking my son to Tennessee in mid-August.  My plans are to start the tutorials in September.  - Have a wonderful day!
