A Cup of Tea

Published by Jerri Kay at 9:13 pm under Birthday, Occasions

Hi everyone, we’re back from Tennessee.  What an action packed weekend!  I arrived in Nashville Saturday around noon and met up with my husband and son for lunch at Chili’s. We spent the afternoon together and attended the Vanderbilt/Auburn game.  What an exciting game it was!  Go Dores!!!!

Today’s card is one I made a few months ago for my mom’s birthday.  Mom  loves hot tea!  She also loves girly cards and this one is exceptionally girly!

moms-tea-party.jpg

The real china tea cup was a birthday gift from a dear friend of mine that loves to attend “tea” luncheons.  It’s such a beautiful teacup and saucer, I used it for inspiration for the teapot and teacups that I watercolored.  The lace doily is actually a paper dessert doily that I bought at the grocery store.  I trimmed it to fit in the corner.

  • Stamps:  Elegant Greetings (SU)
  • Paper:  Whisper White, Almost Amethyst, Gold, Canson Cold Pressed 140 lb. Watercolor Paper
  • Ink: Versamark
  • Accessories:  Flowers (Michael’s), Ribbon (SU), Pearls (JoAnn), Lace Doily (grocery store), Dimensionals (SU), Scor-It, Fiskars Paper Trimmer, Tombow Markers, Legend Watercolor Brush, Ranger Gold/Gold Tinsel EP, Heating Tool, Glue Dots

This is sooooo beautiful! My daughter would love this! We used to have tea parties when she was little. Those days are gone with her being away at college, but she has her fancy china tea cup from her boyfriend and we can still enjoy a tea party when she comes home during breaks!

Oh, I love it. I collect teapots and cup and saucers. Our local Ronald McDonald House has a Cup ‘O Cheer homes tour each November. After touring the homes you go to RM House for tea and goodies and you get to keep your cup and saucer. Really good fundraiser for them. My sister and I are looking forward to this year’s tour. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card-love the doily and your mom is sure to love it. tfs

Man, Jerri, your card looks like a photo of the cup and saucer - did you put all those flowers on the cup and saucer on the card! Man, you mom must have been thrilled. Beautiful, just beautiful.

Wow! I love this card! My mother would adore this card as much as I do. Your watercoloring is fantastic. Is the teacup and tea pot a stamp or did you draw it? Fantastic and such a joy to see.

OMG, Jerri, this is soooo fabulous!!! O love the sweet, dainty tea set ….sooo girly with the doily, pearls, and gorgeous ribbon!!! Beautifully done!!!

  26. Annon 08 Oct 2008 at 10:50 am

What a great idea to get the colors from an actual tea cup! It’s funny how the patterns match.

That’s also a good idea to use an actual doily. I always use my Fiskars circle border punch & make faux doilies.

And that was an exciting game. Glad you had a good time. I really wanted Auburn to lose, so it was nice your team won.

Oh, Jerri, this is just LOVELY! What a perfect match to the teacup too…remarkable!
