Nancy’s Rose

Published by Jerri Kay at 11:18 am under Announcements

I designed this card for a very dear friend I met at splitcoast.  You all know Nancy Ruth, she’s one of the sweetest gals a girl could meet and she always keeps me chuckling with her zany wit.  It was a joy to make this card for Nancy, she always keeps me inspired with her warm and sincere words of praise.  Thank you Nancy, you’re a dear!

TWICE TAGGED:   Yikes, am I ever behind!  I’ve been tagged twice and still haven’t responded.  I was first tagged by Joan Ervin, and second by Christine Okken, my two very dear friends and Dirty Dozen sisters   .   .   .   .   I adore you both {{{{hugs}}}}!!!!

These are the rules:

  • Link your tagger and list the rules on your blog;
  • Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird;
  • Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs; and
  • Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Okay, so here goes:

  1. I luuuuv coffee, but will only drink two brands, Micky D’s and Dunkin Donuts.  I drive to Dunkin Donuts and buy six bags at a time since I go through two pots a day.  I don’t actually drink two full pots, usually three-to-four cups in the morning and two in the evening.  I don’t like warmed up coffee so I make another pot in the evening.
  2. I ainx out if I don’t hear from my son at least once a day.  I need reassurance that he’s safe and okay.  It’s doesn’t have to be a long text or e-mail, just two little words, “I’m okay” or even better, “I love you Mom”.
  3. My stamping room is like a maze, you really need a map to navigate it!
  4. I’d rather fly than drive, I wish we had little spaceships like on the Jetsons; and oh yes, I would LOVE to have Rosy (the maid).
  5. I’m incredibly maternal, besides my kids, I have an English Bulldog who’s old and blind, a year old darling Dachshund, and my girl, Scooter, who’s feline.  I’d have more, but my husband put his foot down.  My babies, all three of them, follow me around the house all day long, including my trips to the john.
  6. Dove chocolates are definitely in the food group.  I think they’re right up there with carbohydrates and I believe carbohydrates are supposed to be 60% of our daily diet.  Yup, I like carbs!
  7. I sleep with two sets of ear plugs, foam and silicone.  Do they work?  Somewhat, although my husband’s snoring still gets through.  I keep telling him if he wakes up dead one morning, I smothered him with his pillow during the night.

Now here are the seven people I am tagging:

Just so over the top elegant and gorgeous! Your watercoloring is amazing as usual, and the ribbon treatment just perfect!

Jerri Kay, what fun to read about you…and of course that card is to die for!! You are the most expert watercolorist and your style is so totally classic and elegant!!

  8. Kittieon 12 Oct 2008 at 6:29 am

Jerri, your card for Nancy Ruth is gorgeous. She will love it.

I’ve got a suggestion for you and your ear plug situation! Buy Breathe Right nose strips for your husband, put them and a few alcohol swab packets (to lightly clean oil from nose) on his night stand and tell him not to get in bed until he has one on his nose. My husband snores loudly as well and these strips really open up the nasal passage and help calm the snoring.

Another heavenly card to sigh over…… what bliss! So nice to learn a little about the lady behind the blog, too.

oh my goodness! This is gorgeous! All the detail makes this over the top!!!

  11. Diane Armstrongon 12 Oct 2008 at 8:53 am

I always resented the lost sleep due to my husband’s snoring - that is, until a recently widowed neighbour said, “I’d give anything to hear my husband snore once more.” That made me stop and think.
Ooh, how I love those Me and Carrie Lou stamps! I have a few that I bought in FL years ago but cannot find ANY dealer here in Canada or the US today. Where do you buy them?
    Diane

  12. Terrion 12 Oct 2008 at 9:04 am

Thank you so much for the list. Your work is so beautiful.
You mentioned a catalog. Where do you purchase the Me & Carrie Lou stamps? Is there a website?

    Thank you, Terri

i don’t know how to do the list but i want to tell you that i see your cards everyday and it’s a beautiful work for me

  14. Cathyon 12 Oct 2008 at 5:47 pm

Thanks SO much for taking the time to share the list of stamps used in your 25th anniversary picture mat. That is still the most impressive, most WOW piece, I’ve ever seen! (And I’m not referring to the bridal couple, although 25 years is also IMPRESSIVE.)

I chuckled about your ear plugs. DH was a champion snorer - Olympic Gold Medal qualified. I finally convinced him to see a doctor. (He IS a doctor so he should know better but he would always tell me that he sees one in the mirror every morning.) He had a serious medical condition causing it, and it’s now so improved (with treatment), I’ve been able to “retire” the ear plugs.

Oh, my, another caffeine dependent chocoholic. I LOVE IT!

I love this tag thing. I saw Julie’s this morning and went back and read the ones where she was tagged before. The things you learn about your designer on line friends. It is so much fun! I knew that Julie’s name rang a bell, but I just could not place it. Then I found out she was the news anchor. Small world. You folks are so wonderful and multi-talented. Please pay tag somemore! It’s great reading…Linda Crowder

Your coloring is just so beautiful. I love how you added the touches of pink on the leaves. (And you are SO funny…I loved reading a bit about you. Lol about the smothering.)

  17. nancy littrellon 12 Oct 2008 at 11:03 pm

Dear Jerri, your coloring is absolutely gorgeous…..as always. You make flowers so real and elegant. They are definately your specialty. TFS your personal info too. I can just see your string of loving pets trailing behind you all day :-) TFS

  18. Darlene Gabrielon 12 Oct 2008 at 11:11 pm

Jerri, this rose is so gorgeous. I’m so glad to have found your blog recently - I’m always amazed at how beautiful your work is. I just love your style.

  19. Judith Cobbon 13 Oct 2008 at 12:06 am

I had to LOL when I read about the 2 sets of earplugs. My husband could literally wake the dead with his snoring until he took his sleep study and got a machine. He is eventually going to replace the machine with minor surgery, but he literally now can’t sleep without his c-pap machine. His sleep apnea was actually a dangerous condition and we are glad it is under control.

On a lighter note, love, love, love your flowers and coloring. They are soooo beautiful and subscribe to see what you post next.

What an absolutely beautiful card!!!! Nancy will be over the top excited with it - you are such a sweetheart!!! And what FUN to read about you!!! And THANK YOU so much for the tag!!! HHHmmmm — but are there 7 things about me people would want to read — LOL — I doubt it, but I’ll think — LOL!!!

  21. Dee Jacksonon 13 Oct 2008 at 10:52 am

This is STUNNING!! Oh I just love this.

  22. PatsyBon 13 Oct 2008 at 11:26 am

I love reading that you have an older English Bullie. I have 8 since I do rescue and most of mine are old and have problems. I have 2 blind and 1 that is getting there! I admire the fact that you are willing to keep and love the bullie even though it is older. So many people feel that once they get old, they are useless. I get them all the time! I also have one that wears diapers since he has Spina Bifida. They are all precious to me and yes, my husband put his foot down but all it took was a big snore from one of the bullies and he was putty! I love your cards and watch your blog every day. Thanks for sharing a small part of your life.

Stunning! Love the colours and the way your design frames the flower! I’m a coffee addict too…often it’s the only liquid I consume for days on end!

  24. gailon 13 Oct 2008 at 2:27 pm

The card you made for Nancy Ruth is so lovely! Elegant! The background complements the gorgeous stamp and your water coloring is sooooo perfect! What DID you use for the background, patterned paper, stamp, paint? TFS G

  25. ChristineCreationson 15 Oct 2008 at 5:07 pm

Oh I love that rose - especially contrasted against the greens. I think I want to see a picture of your stamp room maze :) …and you know we are in the same boat with the snoring too :)

  26. Nancyon 15 Oct 2008 at 6:11 pm

Oh Jerri, this is such a stunning card! I love the pinks and greens!

  27. leslierichon 17 Oct 2008 at 4:04 am

How beautiful your card is and I know Nancy was thrilled to receive it! I love the touch of pink on the leaves. It was fun to read these little details about you, too!

  28. Michelle Woerner (sf9erfan)on 17 Oct 2008 at 1:05 pm

Oh, Nancy will frame this for sure!! Just lovely and I love the greenish DP, sets off the lovely flowers perfectly. Hugs, michelle

P.S. isn’t it fun to read the little things? I sleep with ear plugs too!!

  29. Susan (rainy)on 21 Oct 2008 at 4:10 am

Fun to read about you! I would like a Rosy, too, even if it was just to clean my stamps and craft room. Wouldn’t that be a cool luxury!! lol (And thank you Jerri for the tag. I’m such a slacker though.)

Now about your card.. Gorgeous as always. I especially LOVE the way you have the rose coming out of the box.
