Meeting Judy DuFoe
Hi Everyone,
You just can’t believe my excitement when I had the honor of meeting artist Judy DuFoe in person. It was a total surprise, I had no idea I would be meeting her! I’m a very casual person and most of the time I don’t wear any makeup (I’m embarrassed that I wasn’t wearing any on the day of this meeting . . . oops!) and I usually wear jeans or cargo pants. I had washed my hair that morning, didn’t bother to blow it dry, just pulled it back in a barrette, and headed over to Lakeland. Oh my . . . a day of total embarrassment . . . you know, the kind where you just wish the earth would open and swallow you up!!
Judy is one of the nicest persons I’ve ever met! She is so gracious with lots of southern charm.
I’ll have some designs to post in a few days. I’ve been working on some watercolors and hope to get them made into designs this weekend.
Do you remember earlier in my blog when I said I wanted to take classes. Well, I still haven’t found the time to squeeze that in, but I have been working on a drawing. I bought a book on drawing flowers at Michael’s and this is my first attempt:
I used saral paper to make the outline. I then used a cool gray #30 prisma colored pencil to sketch in the petals and large leaf and to do the shading. For the darker shading I used a #90 cool gray. The drawing in the book only had the large leaf, I added the smaller leaf, stem, and sepals. I’ve started the coloring, but that’s taking me a long time as the picture in the book is in black and white. Colored pencil is like onions, you have to layer the colors for dimension. As you can see from the small leaf, I’ve only applied the first layer. I hope to finish this project this weekend.

Congratulations! This is so exciting. I’m really looking forward to see what everything looks like. Violette’s is about an hour for me so I don’t go often enough, but it’s an amazing store.

I just sent for the CD catalogue from Violette’s this is really exciting.. Me and Carrie Lou has always been more pricey than other stamp companies so unmounted should be more reasonable plus saving on shipping woohoo!!! congratulations - I am not the least bit surprised, I KNOW for the short time I’ve been reading your blog I can tell you are in love with this stamp line and you sure represented them well having not been associated with them, I can only imagine how you’re going to step it up! I am thrilled for you & very excited the stamps will be on-line because I did search for them but came up sorely empty-handed! Not sure what 3 chins you’re talking about, I only saw one - and you are beautiful without make-up!! I bet your beauty radiates from the inside out too!

Oh Jerri this is great news! So happy for you! You are definitely an asset to this adventure! I love those Me & Carrie Lou stamps but they are a bit pricey. Looking forward to the unmounted ones so I can hopefully add to my collection!

Jerri, you have MADE MY DAY! I’m the proud owner of 10 Me and Carrie Lou stamps that I bought when we wintered in Florida several years ago. As someone mentioned, they are ‘kinda’ pricey, but oh, so well worth the investment. They’re versatile and can be used so many different ways. Now that we live back in Canada year round, I always regretted not buying the Mesh Glove and the High-Heeled shoe, so as soon as that website is up, I’ll be sending Sande my order.
