Beautiful Bride

Published by Jerri Kay at 11:41 am under Paper Dolls, SCS Design Team, Wedding

While I’m working on Christmas designs, I’ve decided to post some of my older designs.  Over the next few days I’ll be posting a series of designs that I did for a bridal ensemble.

This card is such a beautiful card to give to a very special bride, maybe a sister, or another family member that you’re close to or even a special friend who is like a sister to you.

I stamped and watercolored the bride, then cut her out using a craft knife and set her aside.  I stamped the gown twice, once on Pale Plum and once on vellum cardstock using bridal embossing powder.  I cut out both gowns, cutting the center portion of the vellum skirt out as well and glued the vellum gown to the pale plum gown on the embossed lines so the adhesive wouldn’t show through.  I used micro pearls to make a bracelet and a necklace, she also has a tiny pearl earring.

I stamped the four floral corners, painted them, cut them out and arranged them on the four corners using dimensionals.  I stamped tiny little roses and made a head piece with a tulle veil and attached that to her head.  It’s hard to see in the photo, the tulle has Dazzling Diamond dots on it.  I stamped a bridal bouquet and attached that to her hand.  The rose and ribbon on the dress were stamped separately on watercolor paper and attached to her dress.  The bride’s shoes were painted with a mixture of Pearl Ex and Gum Arabic giving them a pearly satin sheen.

Jerri, this is simply beautiful! Do you use a special pen around the outside of the white background piece to create the gold? Or is it embossed somehow? Gorgeous!!!

    Again, I am floored. Wow!
Could you talk about that background? It looks embossed, and then that gold just matching the outline — is that two pieces, handcut, or how is that achieved? Curious minds just have to know.

This is spectacular. Each of your items is a work of art that obviously takes hours to complete. Where does one find the micro pearls? How are they attached? I can’t even imagine the work that went into this card! So very inspiring. Thanks so much for posting it here.

What a beautiful card. Tell your husband that my opinion has not changed! It would take me three centuries to make that card and it still would not look anywhere close to yours.

I think I saw these in the Dirty Dozen Gallery on Splitcoaststampers and was awestruck by them then. They are so beautiful. I especially love the veil. The work is so intricate and perfectly detailed. Perfect for a wedding gift that could be treasured forever. I will save these pics for my own daughter’s wedding in a year and a half, though I know mine will never look as beautiful as these. You are so talented.

This morning I had to go back to the beginning of your beautiful bridal series. The details are so much fun to admire and study. I really appreciate your descriptions. Love her veil and necklace. This is one of my favorite SU! designer papers pack, but what really caught my eye is that Carol Wilson embossed dp. I started doing a google search and realized these are the notecards I drool over in gift shops. But I can’t find any plain white embossed papers like this one. Where, oh where, did you get it? Linda
