Bridal Collection: Table Decor – Tea Lamp

1.jpg

Good Morning Ladies!  Welcome to day three of the Bridal Collection, a collection of vintage/shabby creations I’ve designed for summer weddings.  Today’s post features a tea lamp that I had so much fun with.  It’s a bit shabby/a bit vintage.  I absolutely love it and wish you could see it in real life!

I created the flowers using Dahlia Nestibilties. A Bridal Collection Product Page has been added on a tab at the top of my blog banner with links to all the products used in the designs and sold at A Touch of Grace – Paper Boutique.  All products highlighted in pink are available on the product page with shopping links to the store.

In an earlier post, I mentioned that my 27th wedding anniversary is coming up in June.  In celebration of the occasion, I was inspired to design a vintage bridal collection with a hint of shabbiness to it for summer weddings.  There are several designs in the collection and it’s my greatest desire that you’re inspired by my work and will return each day to see what’s new.  I’ll present a new design each day with several pictures, showing you different angles.  If you missed Tuesday’s post featuring the bridal card, you can see it here, Wednesday’s post featured the bridal candlesticks, which can be seen here.

In the picture above, you can see a young bride with her bridesmaid tying a bow at the back of her wedding dress.  She’s so precious, I was inspired to incorporate silk bows throughout my bridal designs.  The collectible is a Maude Bogart design, mother of Humphrey Bogart.  It was a gift from my Mom many years ago.  The collectible rests on a shelf in a Country French wall cabinet in my guest bedroom.  She’s adorable and I thought so perfect for these designs, which will ultimately end up in the guest bedroom as well.  You’ll be seeing this little bride throughout the collection.

I really love this picture!  It gives a perfect view of the silk ribbon bows, as well as the Dahlia flowers.  The lamp has three bows and three flowers treatments.  The flowers were all created with the Dahlia nestibilities.  The leaves surrounding the flowers were made with a Sizzix leaf branch die.  The leaves on the lower edge of the shade were made with a Cuttlebug leaf die; the smaller leaves at the top edge of the shade were made with a MS leaf punch.

This photo gives you another view of the shade from a different angle.  I placed three small flowers below each bow.

I zoomed in a bit closer in this view, don’t you just love the leaves around the lower edge of the shade.  I embossed the center veins, as well as side veins with the Pergamano fine stylus tool.  I used the Pergamano extra large ball to emboss the inside of the leaves on the Pergamano embossing pad to give them a curve.  I sponged the leaves with Olive ink from Memories.  They were adhered to the lamp with Perga Glue.

I included this photo so that you have a birds eye view of how I wrapped the upper edges of the leaves around the top edge of the shade.  I came down about 4/5mm’s from the top of the leaf and scored the leaf to get an even fold line.  The small leaves were sponged with the Olive ink as well.

I took this photo from below the lamp to give you a view of the inside of the lower leaves.  They’re lighter than the outside, giving the leaves a realistic appearance.  The sponging on the leaves was very subtle, with just a hint of darkness to the edges.  The crystal wine glass is perfect for the lamp shade, so beautiful on the bridal table!

I placed black stamens in the centers of the larger flowers.  I didn’t place pearls in the smaller flowers, but wish I had adhered petite seed pearls, maybe on the next shade.  I plan on making several more of these, they are just so much fun to make.

The shade was pretty easy to make, the time involved was in making the flowers.  I spent a few days at the start of the project doing nothing but cutting, sponging, painting the wash, embossing and shaping the flowers, leaves, tendrils, etc.  Once that was done, I started working on the designs.  I had an idea of what I wanted to do.  I made a list of design ideas I had in my head that I wanted to try.  A few were scratched, what you’re seeing in the collection is what I decided on.

I love the small leaves tucked around the upper edge of the shade.  The smaller Dahlias give the edge a ruffled appearance, so adorable!

The silk ribbon tails hang so daintily, just breathtaking to see them in real life.  The lampshade has a fairytale quality about it.  It would be adorable on a child’s dresser or tea table.  Can you just imagine making these for a daughter or granddaughter’s birthday tea  .   .   .   sigh  .   .   .  I’m such a “girlie” girl  .   .   .  I just can’t help it!  Do you think I’ll spoil a granddaughter terribly??

Well, I promised there would be a lot of pictures  .   .   .  can you tell how much I love this bridal collection!

I placed the tea lamp on a tea tray and arranged pearls and a Dahlia flower on the tray as well.  This would be stunning on a bridal table. I hope I’m providing you with ideas and inspiration for bridal, tea, Mother’s Day, and birthday tables, etc.  So many occasions will work with these designs. Your guests will be delighted and in awe of your table.

For your shopping convenience, please refer to the Bridal Collection Product Page at the top of my blog banner for links to products used in the designs.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I’ll be back soon with another design.
