Parchment Craft – The Techniques (step-by-step) – Volume 7
It’s been a while since I last posted Pergamano’s The Techniques series. I’ve completed the series of books and am sharing the final volume, Volume 7, which illustrates painting utilizing several different painting media. The painting is challenging and takes practice. I have several cards to show you over the next few weeks. While I have not mastered these painting techniques, I am having fun learning and hope you enjoy the cards.
Pictured above is Parchment Craft, The Techniques – Volume 7. Several painting techniques are covered in this book including Tip-Tip-Tip technique, Circling and Fine Lines techniques, Teardrop brush strokes, Shading, One Stroke, and Pull and Push techniques.
The painting technique used on this card is Tip-Tip-Tip. The image was traced on regular parchment paper with a mapping pen. Tinta White and Tinta Leaf green inks were used for the tracing. The book gives step-by-step instructions, together with step-by-step pictures illustrating the technique. The leaves and flowers are painted with the Tinta inks using a Pergamano No. 2 Kolinsky brush.
I traced the image onto the parchment paper with a mapping pen. The image was then painted with the Tinta inks. After the painting was completed, I dorsed the back side of the front of the card with dorsing crayons blue and green. The upper right was dorsed with blue and the lower left was dorsed with green. Dorso oil is used to blend the pastel crayons. I then embossed and perforated the card. It measures four by four inches. A perfect gift tag!

this is a stunning peice of work Jerri. This is something that i’ve not ventured into personally – mainly because I’m not a patient person!
Well done on getting through all those books – I wonder – were there any lessons in particular that you enjoyed? Was the idea of working through the books to progress to a point where you had mastered everything, starting from the basics and working up to the most difficult techniques, or was it just random but covered all aspects? I’m just curious that’s all – i’m not in a hurry to follow in your footsteps! It takes true dedication to work through all the techniques systematically – however they are planned out!
I left a comment on your post from May. I had read that you were planning on taking a break in my reader I think, but don’t recall seeing the pictures – then again, maybe I did and commented at the time – I have fibromyalgia so don’t remember a lot of things!

Whoohoo!!! Jerri’s baaaaack!!!!! I must say, you are back with a bang, gf….this is absolutely stunning!!!!! Your creations are breathtaking, I tell ya….true works of art!!! I used to teach tole painting a hundred years ago and did a lot of the tear drop brush strokes…I need to get out my paints and practice a little…..not that mine could ever look like your fabulous creations but you do inspire me to stretch my creativity!!!!
