Botanical Tea and Dahlias

Good morning sweet friends. I’m back today with the card that I gave you a sneak peek of in my last blog post. There are many elements to this card so I’ve provided several pictures from different angles for your viewing purposes.

I love the color scheme of Graphic 45’s Botanical papers. In this design I’ve incorporated paper from all three paper pads, 6 x 6, 8 x 8 and 12 x 12. Shopping inks are provided at the bottom of this post for your convenience. The card’s measurements are 6 1/4  x  7″.

I’ve mixed in some gorgeous Prima serenade, fairy rhymes and lyric flowers; Wild Orchid sweetheart blossoms and gypsophila flowers stems, as well as one of Chelsea’s gorgeous handmade butterflies.

I’ve really become fond of placing tulle in my designs, a layer of pink tulle was placed underneath the script paper panel.

Stamens are a must for me, they add such a beautiful touch to a design. I love the glass beading on these stamens.

A touch of Venise Maria lace and seam binding is all that is needed in the corner to compliment the flowers. The pink flower was made with Spellbinder’s Dahlia dies, the deep pink is a Prima flower, the leaves are Susan’s Garden leaves and the ivy is a Marianne die. I purchased the Distress It All machine from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and love it. The layers of this card were distressed with it. It’s a fabulous tool that helped me save time, as distressing paper tends to be a tedious task for me.

A few leaves inserted within the flowers give a truly realistic touch to the design. A bit of embossing gives curl to the leaves.

The gothic iron work window by Memory Box is just incredibly lacey and beautiful. I’ve placed it over a botanical image from the papers. The small ribbon roses, together with the Venise Maria lace, tie it all together for a truly feminine design.

This angle gives a better view of the leaves, seam binding and stamens. The flower with the large stamens was made with the Dahlia dies, the other flowers are from Prima’s serenade and fairy rhymes collections.

The design makes for a very touching Mother’s Day card, I hope my Mom likes it. It’s also well suited for birthdays, sympathy or get well as well.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I’ll be back later in the week . . . hope to see you then!

Paper Hugs,

I didn’t know there was a way to make the flowers with stamens. They look like a dried flower. I enjoy your work so much. Thank you for your cards and instructions.

    Good Morning Jerri,
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful card, it is so yummy! I see many flowers added to cards with my travels through blog land but none compare to the ones you make!! I was wondering what paper do you use to make you flowers? I think many have asked you but I keep missing the answer, so sorry, to bother you with this question again. Take care my friend and have a wonderful day. Many hugs, E
